This has been CAROLBRASS USA’s top selling model since its introduction in early 2010 because it just does everything so wonderfully well. These are being used by many lead players quite successfully, but they are also great all-around trumpets.

My PERSONAL OPINION: With roots in Burbank, CA and a player of Benge trumpets for many years, I consider the CTR-5000L-YST-Bb-L very close in playability characteristics to the Burbank and early L.A. Benge ML trumpets that I cut my chops on back in the day, with perhaps a touch more sizzle on the upper end when pushed (via the lightweight bell), and definitely with better valve action and superior slotting. As good as the old Benge design was and as great as Elden and his handful of fine craftsmen were at building them, their hand-built nickel plated valves could not be fit as precisely as the CarolBrass stainless steel valves. These CarolBrass trumpets are truly superior performing instruments!
            …Relic (Don Rugg)

Depending on player input and mouthpiece choice, this trumpet with its big core of sound can be played to blend well in a section or stand out with a vibrant commercial sound that has the ability to carry over or cut through just about any ensemble on demand. Many of our lead-playing customers have replaced some very high end hardware with these sensibly-priced trumpets because they just out-perform the competition. You will be delighted at the power and ease of its free upper register, plus benefit from very responsive and strong mids and lows.

NOTE: No two players play or sound the same. If you are one who tends to play with an extra bright, brassy or cutting sound when playing lightweight trumpets, whether it is your natural input or because of the use of a shallow cup mouthpiece or whatever, you may consider this option. You can get all the same performance advantages of this CTR-5000L-YST-L but with the “sizzle” toned down by ordering one with a heavier bell. Number CTR-5000L-YSS-L will get you the same trumpet, but with a .024” thick bell instead of this light .016” bell. Most players like the light bell, but sincethe heavy bell option has been “just the ticket” for a few of our customers, it has been added to our regular model list as CTR-5000L-YSS-L.
